What is PCOS?
Is a condition that affects a woman's hormone levels. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes their body to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant.
PCOS affects a woman’s ovaries, the reproductive organs that produce estrogen and progesterone — hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle. The ovaries also produce a small amount of male hormones called androgens.

Testosterone - A main feature of PCOS can be high testosterone levels. This can lead to symptoms like irregular or absent periods, excess hair growth on your body, weight gain, acne, and difficulty getting pregnant. You will have your total testosterone meassured with this test.
The cells that surround immature follicles produce a hormone called AMH. The more immature follicles, the more AMH. Women with PCOS have higher levels of AMH on average when compared to women who don’t have the condition.
